        <p>Housing and roommate assignments for first-year students at Davidson are made based on a student's gender identity. Students have an opportunity to self-identify gender on the housing preference form. The Residence Life Office offers a wide variety
            of housing options and will work with a student to try to meet that student's needs, including open housing, an upperclass community where students live gender interspersed. Students with a room or roommate request should contact the housing
            assignments coordinator early in the room assignment process.</p>

        <p>Davidson College follows the NCAA Policy on Transgender Student-Athlete Participation:</p>
        <ol>
            <li>A trans male (FTM) student-athlete who has received a medical exception for treatment with testosterone for diagnosed Gender Identity Disorder or gender dysphoria and/or Transsexualism, for purposes of NCAA competition may compete on a men's
                team, but is no longer eligible to compete on a women's team without changing that team status to a mixed team.</li>
            <li>A trans female (MTF) student-athlete being treated with testosterone suppression medication for Gender Identity Disorder or gender dysphoria and/or Transsexualism, for the purposes of NCAA competition may continue to compete on a men's team
                but may not compete on a women's team without changing it to a mixed team status until completing one calendar year of testosterone suppression treatment.</li>
        </ol>
        <p>Any transgender student-athlete who is not taking hormone treatment related to gender transition may participate in sex-separated sports activities in accordance with his or her assigned birth gender.</p>

    <p class="intro">Patterson Court organizations at Davidson College are recognized for the purposes of providing students an opportunity to learn and interact in small-group situations while facilitating personal growth in the areas of scholarship, social and leadership
        development, campus and community service involvement and values clarification.</p>
    <p>In pursuit of these aims, the Patterson Court Office supports the community's vision to be a community of support that recognizes the value of unique individuals and organizations and promotes their engagement in the larger community through relationship
        building, collaborative learning and the process of self-discovery.</p>
    <p>Patterson Court Council is home to a diverse community of 16 service-based and social eating houses, fraternities and sororities. On average 80 percent of Davidson women and 40 percent of Davidson men participate in Patterson Court Council organizations,
        taking advantage of the many opportunities for leadership, service, and fellowship.</p>
    <p>Participation in Patterson Court Council organizations is limited to those that have completed at least one semester at Davidson College, meet the academic and organization requirements, along with any financial costs. To join an eating house, you
        may choose to participate in the self-selection process, either as an individual or as one of a four-woman cluster (clustering ensures all four women get into the same house). To join an IFC fraternity, you must receive a bid from an organization.
        To join an NPHC or Latinx fraternity or sorority, you must complete the membership intake process.</p>
    <p>Organizations host a variety of events for their members along with events for the larger Davidson community. Organizations are expected to follow college policies and are held accountable by the Patterson Court Council Judicial Board.</p>

    <p>To join a fraternity, you must receive a bid for membership and must meet the national GPA requirement for the organization you hope to join. Houses with facilities offer meal plans for upperclassmen.</p>
    <h3>Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.</h3>
    <p>Established in 2003, the Tau Omicron chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. is known for its impactful service, educational projects, popular social programs, and consistent involvement with student organizational leadership positions. The chapter's
        mission is to develop leaders and promote academic excellence while serving the greater community.</p>
    <h3>Kappa Alpha Order</h3>
    <p>Established at Davidson in 1880, the Sigma chapter of Kappa Alpha Order works to instill the values of integrity and honor, and strives to produce gentlemen and leaders that will continue to exhibit the values of KA long after college. The brothers
        pride themselves on strong brotherhood, and it is the friendship and bonds that exist among them that give KA its unique character and personality.</p>
    <h3>Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.</h3>
    <p>Established at Davidson in 2008, the Pi Mu chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. commits themselves to various service projects, hosting educational programs and personal development of their members. The fraternity's goal is achievement in
        every field of human endeavor.</p>
    <h3>Kappa Sigma Fraternity</h3>
    <p>Established at Davidson in 1890, the Delta chapter of the fraternity supports programs for mentoring, military heroes support, and muscular dystrophy research, among others. Brothers value scholarship, leadership, community service and fellowship.</p>
    <h3>Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Inc.</h3>
    <p>During the 2018-2019 academic year, the first Latino fraternity will be established at Davidson College. Students are working to establish a chapter of Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Inc. The brothers value the ideals of academic excellence, brotherhood,
        leadership, latino Unity, and service.</p>
    <h3>Phi Delta Theta Fraternity</h3>
    <p>Established at Davidson in 1929, the North Carolina Gamma chapter of Phi Delta Theta works with Raleigh based Support US Armed Forces: a non-profit that provides morale, welfare, and encouragement to our men and women in uniform. Members also value
        brotherhood, community service, and academic success, and the chapter has three times received the Kansas City Award which recognizes the best small-school chapter of Phi Delta Theta internationally.</p>
    <h3>Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity</h3>
    <p>Established at Davidson in 1923, the Delta Kappa chapter of the fraternity supports organizations such as the Red Cross and the United Service Organization (USO). Brothers aim to create lifelong friendships within the fraternity while promoting a
        commitment to learning and excellence.</p>
    <h3>Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity</h3>
    <p>Established at Davidson in 1883, the Theta chapter of the fraternity supports the Red Cross and the Ada Jenkins Center in Davidson. It recently received the National Outstanding Alumni Association Communication award. Brothers pride themselves on
        being true gentlemen of good scholarship.</p>
    <h3>Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity</h3>
    <p>Established at Davidson in 1930, the Epsilon chapter of the fraternity supports the Ada Jenkins Center in Davidson, as well as the YouthAIDS organization, the American Cancer Society and the Red Cross. The house recently received its third Buchanan
        Outstanding Chapter award, its second Academic Excellence award, and an award for excellence in recruitment. Brothers work to recruit men from diverse backgrounds and with diverse interests.</p>
    <h2>Women's Organizations</h2>
    <p>To join a sorority, you must attend an information session hosted by the sorority to learn more about membership. To join an eating house, you may choose to participate in the self-selection process in January, either as an individual or as one of

        the Year, and has received awards for community service and community involvement. The sorority values high scholastic and ethical standards, unity, community service, and interest in women's issues.&nbsp;</p>
    <h3>Connor Eating House</h3>
    <p>Founded in 1992, Connor House supports breast cancer awareness and early detection through its partnership with Friends for an Earlier Breast Cancer Test. In addition to planning social activities, members promote sisterhood through collaborative
        service and philanthropy in the greater community.</p>
    <h3>Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.</h3>
    <p>Established at Davidson in 2011, the Upsilon Mu chapter of the sorority aims to enlighten and enhance the community. Sisters have received several awards for academic and civic achievements, including Patterson Court Women's Organization of the Year
        and Center for Civic Engagement Outstanding Organization, among others. The sorority's guiding motto is: "Intelligence is the torch of wisdom."&nbsp;</p>
    <h3>Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc.</h3>
    <p>During the 2018-2019 academic year, the first Latina sorority will be established at Davidson College. Students are working to establish a chapter of Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/ Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc. The sisters are committed to the three
        ideals upon which the organization's foundation stands: <em>La Comunidad, La Cultura Latina, and La Hermandad.</em> Las Hermanas strive to promote progress and development in their communities.</p>
    <h3>Rusk Eating House</h3>
    <p>Founded in 1977 as the College's first all-female eating house, Rusk House is a diverse group of women who value sincerity, community, and acceptance. The house is committed to fighting hunger in the local Charlotte-Mecklenburg community as part of
        its service and philanthropic efforts.</p>
    <h3>Turner Eating House</h3>
    <p>Founded in 1998, Turner House is the college's youngest eating house and is proudly located “upon a hill” behind Patterson Court. Our members support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Hospitality House of Charlotte, Levine Children’s Hospital, Hope
        of Mooresville, and a variety of other local organizations.</p>

<p>Housing and roommate assignments for first-year students at Davidson are made based on a student's gender identity. Students have an opportunity to self-identify gender on the housing preference form. The Residence Life Office offers a wide variety of housing options and will work with a student to try to meet that student's needs, including open housing, an upperclass community where students live gender interspersed. Students with a room or roommate request should contact the housing assignments coordinator early in the room assignment process.</p>

<p>Davidson College follows the NCAA Policy on Transgender Student-Athlete Participation:</p>
<ol><li>A trans male (FTM) student-athlete who has received a medical exception for treatment with testosterone for diagnosed Gender Identity Disorder or gender dysphoria and/or Transsexualism, for purposes of NCAA competition may compete on a men's team, but is no longer eligible to compete on a women's team without changing that team status to a mixed team.</li>
<li>A trans female (MTF) student-athlete being treated with testosterone suppression medication for Gender Identity Disorder or gender dysphoria and/or Transsexualism, for the purposes of NCAA competition may continue to compete on a men's team but may not compete on a women's team without changing it to a mixed team status until completing one calendar year of testosterone suppression treatment.</li>
</ol><p>Any transgender student-athlete who is not taking hormone treatment related to gender transition may participate in sex-separated sports activities in accordance with his or her assigned birth gender.</p>
<ul><li>A trans male (FTM) student-athlete who is not taking testosterone related to gender transition may participate on a men's or women's team.</li>
<li>A trans female (MTF) transgender student-athlete who is not taking hormone treatments related to gender transition may not compete on a women's team.</li>

  <p class="intro">Patterson Court organizations at Davidson College are recognized for the purposes of providing students an opportunity to learn and interact in small-group situations while facilitating personal growth in the areas of scholarship, social and leadership development, campus and community service involvement and values clarification.</p>
<p>In pursuit of these aims, the Patterson Court Office supports the community's vision to be a community of support that recognizes the value of unique individuals and organizations and promotes their engagement in the larger community through relationship building, collaborative learning and the process of self-discovery.</p>
<p>Patterson Court Council is home to a diverse community of 16 service-based and social eating houses, fraternities and sororities. On average 80 percent of Davidson women and 40 percent of Davidson men participate in Patterson Court Council organizations, taking advantage of the many opportunities for leadership, service, and fellowship.</p>
<p>Participation in Patterson Court Council organizations is limited to those that have completed at least one semester at Davidson College, meet the academic and organization requirements, along with any financial costs. To join an eating house, you may choose to participate in the self-selection process, either as an individual or as one of a four-woman cluster (clustering ensures all four women get into the same house). To join an IFC fraternity, you must receive a bid from an organization. To join an NPHC or Latinx fraternity or sorority, you must complete the membership intake process.</p>
<p>Organizations host a variety of events for their members along with events for the larger Davidson community. Organizations are expected to follow college policies and are held accountable by the Patterson Court Council Judicial Board.</p>

<p>To join a fraternity, you must receive a bid for membership and must meet the national GPA requirement for the organization you hope to join. Houses with facilities offer meal plans for upperclassmen.</p>
<h3>Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.</h3>
<p>Established in 2003, the Tau Omicron chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. is known for its impactful service, educational projects, popular social programs, and consistent involvement with student organizational leadership positions. The chapter's mission is to develop leaders and promote academic excellence while serving the greater community.</p>
<h3>Kappa Alpha Order</h3>
<p>Established at Davidson in 1880, the Sigma chapter of Kappa Alpha Order works to instill the values of integrity and honor, and strives to produce gentlemen and leaders that will continue to exhibit the values of KA long after college. The brothers pride themselves on strong brotherhood, and it is the friendship and bonds that exist among them that give KA its unique character and personality.</p>
<h3>Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.</h3>
<p>Established at Davidson in 2008, the Pi Mu chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. commits themselves to various service projects, hosting educational programs and personal development of their members. The fraternity's goal is achievement in every field of human endeavor.</p>
<h3>Kappa Sigma Fraternity</h3>
<p>Established at Davidson in 1890, the Delta chapter of the fraternity supports programs for mentoring, military heroes support, and muscular dystrophy research, among others. Brothers value scholarship, leadership, community service and fellowship.</p>
<h3>Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Inc.</h3>
<p>During the 2018-2019 academic year, the first Latino fraternity will be established at Davidson College. Students are working to establish a chapter of Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Inc. The brothers value the ideals of academic excellence, brotherhood, leadership, latino Unity, and service.</p>
<h3>Phi Delta Theta Fraternity</h3>
<p>Established at Davidson in 1929, the North Carolina Gamma chapter of Phi Delta Theta works with Raleigh based Support US Armed Forces: a non-profit that provides morale, welfare, and encouragement to our men and women in uniform. Members also value brotherhood, community service, and academic success, and the chapter has three times received the Kansas City Award which recognizes the best small-school chapter of Phi Delta Theta internationally.</p>
<h3>Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity</h3>
<p>Established at Davidson in 1923, the Delta Kappa chapter of the fraternity supports organizations such as the Red Cross and the United Service Organization (USO). Brothers aim to create lifelong friendships within the fraternity while promoting a commitment to learning and excellence.</p>
<h3>Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity</h3>
<p>Established at Davidson in 1883, the Theta chapter of the fraternity supports the Red Cross and the Ada Jenkins Center in Davidson. It recently received the National Outstanding Alumni Association Communication award. Brothers pride themselves on being true gentlemen of good scholarship.</p>
<h3>Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity</h3>
<p>Established at Davidson in 1930, the Epsilon chapter of the fraternity supports the Ada Jenkins Center in Davidson, as well as the YouthAIDS organization, the American Cancer Society and the Red Cross. The house recently received its third Buchanan Outstanding Chapter award, its second Academic Excellence award, and an award for excellence in recruitment. Brothers work to recruit men from diverse backgrounds and with diverse interests.</p>
<h2>Women's Organizations</h2>
<p>To join a sorority, you must attend an information session hosted by the sorority to learn more about membership. <h3>Connor Eating House</h3>
<p>Founded in 1992, Connor House supports breast cancer awareness and early detection through its partnership with Friends for an Earlier Breast Cancer Test. In addition to planning social activities, members promote sisterhood through collaborative service and philanthropy in the greater community.</p>
<h3>Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.</h3>
<p>Established at Davidson in 2011, the Upsilon Mu chapter of the sorority aims to enlighten and enhance the community. Sisters have received several awards for academic and civic achievements, including Patterson Court Women's Organization of the Year and Center for Civic Engagement Outstanding Organization, among others. The sorority's guiding motto is: "Intelligence is the torch of wisdom."&nbsp;</p>
<h3>Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc.</h3>
<p>During the 2018-2019 academic year, the first Latina sorority will be established at Davidson College. Students are working to establish a chapter of Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/ Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc. The sisters are committed to the three ideals upon which the organization's foundation stands: <em>La Comunidad, La Cultura Latina, and La Hermandad.</em> Las Hermanas strive to promote progress and development in their communities.</p>
<h3>Rusk Eating House</h3>
<p>Founded in 1977 as the College's first all-female eating house, Rusk House is a diverse group of women who value sincerity, community, and acceptance. The house is committed to fighting hunger in the local Charlotte-Mecklenburg community as part of its service and philanthropic efforts.</p>
<h3>Turner Eating House</h3>
<p>Founded in 1998, Turner House is the college's youngest eating house and is proudly located “upon a hill” behind Patterson Court. Our members support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Hospitality House of Charlotte, Levine Children’s Hospital, Hope of Mooresville, and a variety of other local organizations.</p>
